Declan Kidney prepares for his final Munster challenge

With head coach Declan Kidney heading for the top coaching job in Ireland after the Heineken Cup final, Anthony Foley retiring and forwards coach Jim Williams heading back to Australia, come Sunday morning a new era will start at Munster, but they are looking to give them the perfect parting present.

"We have been in four finals and have won one of them," flanker David Wallace told the Rugby Club.

"He ( Kidney) wants Munster to win things and then step into the background."

Declan's man-management skills and motivational tools are legendary and he uses some interesting props to get his point across.

"A few weeks ago before we played Saracens he put of a video and we were meant to concentrate and take notes," explains Donncha O'Callaghan.

"But he started driving a remote controlled car around the room with a fez hat balanced on top. We were all watching the car and he suddenly asked if anyone could describe what happened in the last three minutes of the video.

"That was exactly what he was trying to get across, that we had to concentrate on what was happening on the pitch no matter what was going on."

Kidney is not a man to be in the limelight but loves challenging his players to become the best that they can.

"When they get to this level they have 90 per cent of what they need," explained Kidney.

"The job is to hold them at that level and finding that 1 per cent to make them a better player. Then look for another 1 per cent, maybe bring in another coach, another aspect and help them develop towards their ultimate game."
