Murray: How high can he go?
Andy Murray's fine start to the American hardcourt season has seen him climb to a career-high sixth in the latest ATP rankings.
Do you think the Scot can go even higher?
Was his victory over Novak Djokovic in the final of the Cincinnati Masters the best of his career?
Can Murray now go on and challenge the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for the world number one spot?
And with the US Open just around the corner, how far do you think the Scot can go at Flushing Meadow?

Mark Reilly you have served an ace! Finally someone can see that andy is the real deal! Its only a matter of time and as you rightly point out hisprogression this year has been outstanding and world class. Its sad to see real superstars on the wane but for Rog i think its just a blip. British tennis has something really to shout loud for! Not since Bates, Jurie and Castle and more recently hen and greg has grass roots tennis got a real idol; a person young enough to ignore limits set by others and the establishment. He has also got the benefit of been there, done having already won the junior title. Look behind you signor nadal, there's a double scotch right behind you! Andy, they are for the taking!

Well actually, he had two victories over Djokovic within two weeks, one being the final of the masters, the other in a previous masters tournament. He's got the talent, variety and nowadays fitness to win slams in the future, and he'll have to go through those currently above him to do so and on the right day with the right form, why not.

I can't believe some of the nonsense written about Andy Murray. No talent? Not as talented as the big three? No personality? not handsome enough? no sex appeal etc etc. Only the green eyed monster could possibly motivate these kind of comments. If theres one thing this lad had in abundance from a very early age it was TALENT. Anyone who says different doesn't know a tennis player from an englishman:) Recently he is adding a maturity on court to his talent and his physical prowess.(something the detractors were moaning about before and are having to eat their words.) He isn't the finished article yet and to be 4th in the world with more to come can't be bad. I look forward to many years of rivalry between Djokovic, Del Potro and Andy and if Nadals body can withstand the weighlifting abuse from his teens and his compulsive disorders he might even keep up with them:)

Who would have thought that the hard courts look like Murray's best chance of grand slam success? The Federer-Nadal axis looks too strong at Wimbledon, but I'm confident Murray can bring out his A-game this week and reach the promised land. Nadal will eventually have a bad game and he has had a longer Olympics competition than Murray - which all points in the Scotsman's favour!

After Andy's amazing win last win and with his current form I honestly believe Andy can become the best in the world if he continues progressing at his current rate. There is no doubt Federer's powers are on the wane and Djokovic whilst talented is not to be feared. This only leaves NADAL! However, I do not believe he can keep up his current performance levels and that his all action game risks injuries and other damage. GO ANDY!

Can Murray touch Nadal or Federer? or even Djokovic for that matter? I know what you guys are thinking, he beat Djokovic. One victory against someone doesn't make you great. What does is winning against the big guys over and over again. He's won one Masters so far, and he goes around screaming "COME ON" at every oppurtunity and flexing his muscles. Put that muscle up against Mr Nadals Andy and you won't be so willing to show it anymore. Also put your one master next to Federer's many Grand Slams and Nadals. The point I'm trying to make is, British tennis players have always been hyped to do amazing things. Henman was in the top ten and was meant to be a Wimbledon winner. I think we need to lower the expectations, and then expect big things when they prove they are really up there, which quite frankly Murray hasn't done. His physical strenght and stamina has improved, but is nowhere near what it should be if he is to compare to Nadal, Federer or Djokovic.

i agree with tim foster he hasn't got what it takes either in talent, personality or mr nice guy he could not hold a candle to raffa or federer .. he should take a leaf out of their books. he struts around as if he has done it all and what has he won 1 masters series title. learn from the professionals mr murray and you may be doing yourself a favour at least when greg rudeski got to the semis of us open he did it with style

What we often forget is that Tim Henman and now Andy Murray are/were in the top 5 best players on the planet. If we had a British football player who was at this level year after year we would be talking about him in such a positive manner - we do not talk about our golf players with such negativity, yet it is unlikley that we are going to get anyone that outshines Tiger. I think we have to say that when looking at our facilities and the UK set up for tennis - Tim and now Andy have not done to bad

I didn't go to Juniors like James, but I totally agree with what he says! Tim is just like the rest of the UK - negative! Andy Murray will go on and win more majors then any BRIT ever, maybe even this years US open - watch this space.....

This is directed to Tim Fosters comment... I went to tennis school with Andy as a junior and he has most definately got what it takes! since he was a junior he has been amongst the worlds best! What you must understand is when andy was playing ITF tournaments nadal was already playing ATP´s and has had alot longer to come into his own! Its only a matter of time before Andy takes over as he is a huge talent. There was a time i remember when federer was "unbeatable" and it was said that nobody could move above him......... Why make comments if you have no clue what your talking about??

andy talent is there for all to see, but consistency with cool head is the lift to the top of the world and maintance of his body is the will to remain unbeating. if he take to positive instruction from his coaching staffs with clear head he will achieve his goals.

Murray hasn't got what it takes, we are kidding ourselves. Nadal and Fedderer are in a different league and what we have here is another Henman-esque situation. He'll do OK in the odd tournament but never really win anything significant, certainly not consistently as he is in a totally different class to the top players in the world.

Andy Murray has worked incredibly hard to achieve fitness and it showed. Remember, you are only as good as your opponent allows, and as Djokovic said - I sent down rockets and got rockets back - which meant that Andy was the better player. He is on the up and seems to have a great team behind him, giving him constant guidance and confidence. COME ON ANDY!

Murray proved in Cincinatti that he's got what it takes to win titles and i don't think it would have mattered if it was Nadal in the final, Murray would have walked away with the trophy. If he can stay fit and keep this momentum which his new attacking game has brought he can challenge anybody. He already has the second best defensive game in the world, second only to Nadal. Now he has a fantastic attacking game to work with after the defensive play. I think Murray will be challenging for the US open, not sure on the Olympics because Federer seems to really want that one and lets face it when he's at his best nobody can stop him.. not even Nadal. But if Murray can stay consistent he can rule the world!!

Andy Murray is talented, and even improving. he also has the hardest Country to impress in England. plus the the great brittish press also put more pressure on the lad. He can finnish third in the world rankings, but no higher. i just cant see him catching up with nadel and federer

great win for murray. got a chance at the us open this year. however i still think that the olympics and the us open are foor roger federer's taking. he has a major point to prove. as for murray i think he can go on to win another masters series this year and will definatly qualify for tennis masters cup. murray has a big future ahead of him, yet he still has a long way to go to be consistently beating the likes of nadal, federer and djokovic. he also has to be wary of the other stars who are rising around him. people seem to forget about monfils, gasquet (who i believe can win at least one grand slam) and gulbis. i believe that murray is the more talented of these players, possibly with the exception of richard gasquet, but the question is wether he can use that talent to good effect. great win for murray, lets hope he can build on it.

There is no doubt in my mind that Andy is a massive talent and in time will be Number One and win Wimbledon, he reads his opponents so well and in due course will be too deft, even for Nadal who relies too much on strength.
