Sky Sports to show highlights of the Barclaycard World Freerun Champs
The first-ever Barclaycard World Freerun Championships has been held in London - and
Sky Sports is set to bring you the best of the action.
A total of 23 athletes from 18 countries descended on the capital for the event - with an amazing array of tricks and skills on show.
The groundbreaking event, staged in Camden's iconic Roundhouse, saw each artist perform to his own individually selected soundtrack and - in a unique twist - judged by his fellow competitors.
And you can see who won and who crashed out on
Sky Sports 2 and
Sky Sports 3 on Monday September 22.
Dan Mathieson, head of sponsorship at Barclaycard, the title sponsor of the World Freerun Championships said: "Freerunning is an amazing sport and some of the moves executed by the top performers are truly breathtaking.
"For Barclaycard, the fluidity of movement that is at the very heart of freerunning has a clear parallel with the freedom that we give our customers through such innovations as contactless payments and travel with the Barclaycard OnePulse card. We're proud to support the first of what we are sure will become major annual events."
Championship organisers, World Freerun Limited welcomed Barclaycard's involvement in the event, with championship spokesman 'Ez' saying: "Blue-chip companies are becoming increasingly interested in getting into the freerun thing, but we always make sure that we are comfortable with our participation and that it makes sense for the freerun lifestyle.
"The clincher for us here is that Barclaycard's global ambitions for the sport match our own."
